Tyco Integrated Fire & Security Switzerland offers a wide product and service portfolio covering all aspects of fire and security technology. Security systems, industrial lighting, entry indicators, and fire protection are some of the categories Tyco offers its customers.
In order to expand its online business in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the company replaced its old online shop with a new, powerful e-commerce solution.

We have had very good experiences with Magento, particularly when clients wanted to implement individual features. Extensions that accommodate these needs can be easily integrated into Magento. That is why we chose this versatile e-commerce solution to realize the new online shop for Tyco because we could connect our own extensions to it. The shop uses a secure SSL certificate. The backend is very intuitive and clear. After instructions from W4, Tyco's staff can enter, manage, and delete products on their own.
Tyco's customer groups are as versatile as its product portfolio. Promotions do not always apply to all customers but are restricted to a particular group. Tyco therefore asked if there was a possibility to display new promotions automatically to customers connected to specific product categories.
Every customer has to register before their first purchase. Tyco then checks the entered user data and assigns each user a customer group. As a result, the customer automatically sees the relevant promotions after the login. With this feature, Tyco can exactly define which promotions are displayed for which product groups and specific customer groups. Promotional codes, coupons, or refunds become unnecessary with the extension programmed by W4.
The bigger the product, the more expensive the shipping costs. If the calculated shipping costs exceed the usual amount, the bulky goods shipping costs are automatically displayed in the shopping cart next to the individual product. This is a step toward more transparency.
There are several products that are available with various features. In order not to display every product variation separately and to give customers more clarity, W4 developed an extension that allows customers to select features on the product page.
